Stuller, Inc. and Lafayette Consolidated Government make Rue Louis XVI Crosswalks Safer

New rapid flashing beacon crosswalks for pedestrians

Lafayette, LA (December 5, 2016) – Ahead of the busy holiday traffic season, Stuller, Inc. and the Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) have joined forces to make pedestrian crossing on Rue Louis XVI in Lafayette safer.

“LCG has recently installed seven brand new solar-powered Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB), purchased by Stuller that pedestrians can activate before entering the crosswalks.

“With over 1,000 associates, many of them park in the parking lot across the street from our campus,” says Jay Hebert director of security and loss prevention. “It is our goal to make sure all of our associates make it to work and home in the safest manner possible. While these new RRFBs may not stop every driver traveling down the heavily traveled street, it will bring an awareness that a pedestrian is in the area.”

The RRFBs Stuller purchased are made with yellow LED lights that flash in an irregular flashing pattern, similar to emergency flashers. “These lights make them more noticeable,” says Jay. “And studies done by the Federal Highway Administration show that these RRFBs at pedestrian crosswalks are significantly more effective at increasing driver yielding rates at crosswalks.”

The new RRFBs crosswalks are located in front of Stuller’s global headquarters, which is in the 300 block of Rue Louis XVI. “We are thankful for our partnership with LCG,” says Jay. “We find it important to protect not only our associate’s here at Stuller, but also, those in the local community who may use these crosswalks as well.”
